Bibliography
In our Item Descriptions we refer to our two "Rockwell Experts", Finch (1) and Stoltz (2). Finch is Christopher Finch, a very prolific writer and author of several Norman Rockwell books and many other books not related to Rockwell. In addition to the reference book listed below which includes all of Rockwell's 321 Saturday Evening Post covers, other Rockwell books authored by Finch include Norman Rockwell's America, 102 Famous Paintings of Norman Rockwell and The Norman Rockwell Poster Book. Flythe and the Stoltz's book listed below also includes all of Rockwell's 321 Saturday Evening Post covers. The difference between these two books is that Finch's book includes prints of the Rockwell paintings and the Stoltz book includes prints of the entire Rockwell Post covers including the Post masthead. Dr. Donald Stoltz and Marshall Stoltz also wrote The Advertising World of Norman Rockwell and opened the Curtis Center Museum of Norman Rockwell Art in Philadelphia in 1976. I believe the museum is no longer open to the public, but operates a catalog center for Rockwell prints from the same location which was where the Curtis Publishing Company was located when Rockwell made his first trip to sell his paintings to the Post in 1916. I spoke to one of the Stoltz brothers several years ago with some of my Rockwell background questions. He was very cordial and helpful. For all of my fellow students of Rockwell, I highly recommend these excellent Rockwell books - both for the great Rockwell art and also for the knowledgeable Rockwell commentaries, background information and antidotes.
